“Many of us have lost loved ones over the years, or are taking care of ill and aging parents, or have been dealing with chronic illnesses or physical trauma of their own” says Rabbi Falk. “Many people have questions on how to make sense of suffering, on Jewish beliefs about afterlife, and on whether Jewish practices and rituals exist that can help us during these often difficult lifecycle transitions. This series of adult education classes is meant to answer these questions.”

Congregation Kehilat Shalom of Belle Mead will hold the first of three sessions entitled “Judaism at the End of Life”, on Sunday, January 17th at 9:30 AM. This educational series on the value  and wisdom that Jewish tradition provides when dealing with illness and end-of-life decisions, will be taught by Rabbi Susan Falk, spiritual  leader of the Congregation.  It is being held in partnership with the Jewish Federation of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren’s Jewish LIFE Series. 

January 17th at 9:30 am - Part 1, Using Jewish Values in Making End-of-Life Decisions.
Through study and discussion, learn how Jewish teachings can illuminate and provide guidance with the issues people face in making end of life decisions and the search for meaning.  Together we will discuss navigating technological advances, patient self-determination, and the ability to control one's own destiny.
