Over the course of more than two millennia, Jewish texts have transitioned from scroll to codex to book – and now to the digital age. Professor Gary A. Rendsburg, the Blanche and Irving Laurie Chair in Jewish History at Rutgers University, will survey the classical Jewish sources, including the Bible, Mishnah, Talmud, Siddur, and Haggadah, from before the age of printing to digital formats. He will focus both on the contents and the history of these documents, including their preservation in museums and libraries for centuries, along with the move to greater access through their availability on the internet. The lecture is free and open to the public. Free parking is available.
