Rabbi Deb Smith (Reb Deb)’s “The Spiritual You” will be offered on Mondays, November 7, 14th, 21nd and 28th, 12:00 pm-1:30 pm at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum JCC 775 Talamini Road, Bridgewater. Difficult to define and sought after by increasing numbers of people, spirituality has been present as the glue that holds Judaism together throughout the ages. We will study the roots and development of Jewish spirituality from ancient to contemporary times and explore its seven active components (study, prayer, music, tikkun olam/social justice, nature, meditation, acts of transcendence). Discussion of how to care for and nourish the soul; the power of blessings and how to incorporate a spontaneous blessing practice into our lives. How can one develop a meaningful spiritual practice, regardless of level of involvement with religious practice or belief in G-d?
Reb Deb Smith is the founder and spiritual leader of Or Ha Lev Jewish Renewal Congregation in Morris County. She is also a Clinical Social Worker and a recipient of the prestigious Leo Brody Award, given to an outstanding professional in the field of Jewish Communal Service.
